Objectives
Conduct a complete instructional sortie: objectives-based brief, in-flight instruction with graded tasks, and a debrief that produces an accurate grade sheet the student agrees reflects what happened.
Brief
State the tasks on today’s grade sheet by PQS row, the standards for each, and the abort criteria. The student should be able to predict their own grade sheet before engines turn — that is the no-surprise principle in daily use.
Fly
Demonstration-performance, deliberately. Talk less as proficiency rises. Intervene by the ladder: verbal cue → guarded controls → take the aircraft. Every intervention is a grade fact, not a favor.
Debrief
Reconstruct, don’t lecture: what happened, against which standard, graded what. Student self-assessment first — calibrated students become calibrated pilots. End with the grade sheet signed by both, the next lesson’s objectives named, and any U/F items mapped to their retraining plan.
