Objectives

By the end of this lesson you will be able to: (a) state the course sequence and its rationale; (b) locate any requirement in PQS-HL-01; (c) describe the grading scale (U/F/Q/QI) and the exam gates.

Why limitations and immediate actions come first

On this aircraft the interval between a malfunction and an unrecoverable state is measured in seconds. Knowledge that requires a lookup is knowledge you don’t have. This course therefore follows the military qualification sequence: memorize the envelope and the critical actions first, then learn the systems behind them, then the procedures, then fly.

The Qualification Standard is the contract

Every quiz question and every graded task on your evaluation exists as a row in PQS-HL-01. Nothing on the check is a surprise; nothing in the course is decoration. When in doubt about what is required of you, read the standard — that is what it is for.

Exam gates and grading

• Each topic ends in a written exam. Memory-bank items are graded to 100% — one missed memory item fails the exam regardless of total score.
• Practical tasks are graded U (unable), F (familiar — performs with assistance), Q (qualified — meets the standard unassisted), QI (qualified-instructor).
• The qualification evaluation requires Q on every required task, conducted by a QI-qualified instructor.

What qualification buys you

PIC privileges on the Heavy Lift within company operating policy, entry into the recurrent cycle, and the base from which transition and mission-specific qualifications derive.
